OpenCanary

An early-warning system for code quality: aggregate, analyze and report the results of builds and static-analysis tools.

Python · CI · Static analysis

Summary

OpenCanary collects compiler warnings, static-analysis findings and test results, turns them into a structured, prioritized list of issues, and produces readable reports.

Purpose

In a large C++ codebase, new warnings drown in the noise of existing ones. OpenCanary detects regressions — new issues introduced by a change — and can fail a CI build exactly when that happens, while letting teams focus on the issue categories they care about.

Key features

  • Parsers for GCC/Clang, MSVC, Cppcheck, clang-tidy, sanitizers and coverage tools
  • Converts raw warnings into structured CSV
  • Customizable filtering, prioritization and regression detection
  • HTML reports with clickable links to source code and documentation
  • Team-specific priorities and focus areas

Technology

Written in Python, designed for C++ projects from C++11 up to C++23.
